1887
Built for the cattlemen of the Midwest
The story of Historic Concord Exchange begins in 1887, when the building rose to serve the wealthy cattlemen of the Midwest. Originally the office of what would grow into the largest stockyards in the United States — known as the Stockyards Exchange — it stood at the very center of South St. Paul's booming livestock trade. In its halls, deals were struck and fortunes were made, and the grandeur of the architecture reflected the importance of the business conducted within.
A new chapter
As the years passed and the stockyards era faded, the building's story was far from over. In 2000, the landmark was thoughtfully renovated and reopened — this time as an event venue, ready to host a new kind of gathering. The careful restoration preserved the extensive handcrafted woodwork and majestic character that had defined the building for over a century, while reimagining the space for weddings, galas and celebrations.
Since then, Historic Concord Exchange has been the setting for some of the most beautiful celebrations in South St. Paul — a place where history and elegance continue to come together.
